it's your money...
Ever look at your Student Account Bill and see all these charges for things you did NOT sign up for?
Those are things to take notice of and utilize to the best of your ability.
Here are 7 commonly forgotten perks of being in college and that you are probably paying for whether through student bill or taxes.
1. STUDENT DISCOUNTS
First lets start of with the biggest known student perk that STILL goes underrated-- student discounts.
Businesses often offer student discounts. Student discounts can be utilized in multiple places:
2. STUDENT RESOURCES
Those excessive charges on your student account?
Those are your Student Resources.
It can't be stressed enough about how many people miss out on a full college experience or end up DOUBLE PAYING for services that they might already have at the university.
Student Resources Include:
3. RECREATE YOURSELF
Nobody in College Cares about what you were in High School.
That could be a good or bad thing depending on how you take it.
In college, you are able to recreate yourself.
Be anyone you want to be or simply better the version of yourself (recommended).
Leave toxins, mistakes, and bad situations in the past.
Be warned however, if someone from High School encounters you, it could be difficult keeping up the facade.
4. BEING BROKE IS NORMAL
Good news is, so is over half the student body population of your campus.
But if you are a person that likes to make up an excuse to stay inside and avoid society and their stupid ways, you are in the right place.
An Event Cost $5?
Well dammit, I got $3.
Looks like it's another night inside.
5. NEVER BORED
On contrary to the last point, you will never be bored in college.
If you are utilizing your student resources as discussed above, and aren't constantly abusing the last perk, you could find yourself with a schedule full of events.
The university offers events everyday through the various clubs and organizations as well as it's sponsors and collaborating business partners. There is always something going on on campus including the "everyday, who cares if we got class tomorrow" parties that happen on the daily. However, if partying isn't your thing, going to the Student Center, Football game or simply the library will give you plenty of your daily dosage of social interaction.
6. 15 MINUTES OF....SLEEP!
15 Minutes until your next class?
Say no more.
The value of a 15 minute Nap will become more than gold.
Ok, wait...Almost as much as gold.
Being in college, you probably have fully encountered the period of "assignments due, upcoming tests, projects needing submissions" so you probably are getting little to even NO sleep. Those simple 10 or 15 minutes used to recharge can go a long way for the day. Just make sure to set up an alarm or this will become your worst enemy QUICKLY.
7. UNIVERSITY GEAR
During Welcoming Week and Homecoming Week,
The university Gear is on full blast. There are tons of opportunities to acquire free university gear whether that be pencils, bags, cups, shirts, hats, etc, you can obtain a few items to add to your college inventory and toolbox.
